Our study was located in the contrasts between Fitzrovia and adjoining Bloomsbury in central London. Developing the concept of 'urban transactions', we questioned how an understanding of urban grain, of boundaries and quarters, and of the use of the public realm may lead to spatial interventions for a more productive urban condition. Different scales of interventions and networks were proposed.
