Term 2 Studio: Urban Living Environments _ Research & Design
Design proposals for live-work environments in London and Santiago. The issues and findings of Term 1 Building Studies and Research Papers served as starting points for the formulation of design briefs meant to act as vehicles for innovative architectural expression as well as satisfying the taught programme’s requirements for sustainable environmental design. Architectural innovation is sought in the siting, building form, materiality and/or operational conditions of the proposed design schemes. Environmental design must provide building features and occupant adaptive opportunities that will ensure thermal and visual comfort naturally without recourse to non-renewable sources. Parametric analysis of environmental performance is an essential aspect of design research.
