When Energy Becomes Form is coordinated by Stefano Rabolli Pansera that pursues new paradigms in the relationship between energy and space.
The first phase consisted of a series of lectures at the AA featuring Giovanni Anceschi, Massimo Bartolini, David Claerbout, Martin Creed, Wilfredo Prieto, Vid Stojevic and Roberto Trotta and based on collaborations between eight teams of artists, architects and scientists on eight specific forms of energy. The teams built prototypes that questioned the conventional relationship between energy and form. In August 2010 the prototypes were exhibited at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini as part of the 12th International Architecture Biennale in Venice. An accompanying B/E symposium featured speakers such as Hans Ulrich Obrist, Reiner de Graaf, Toni Negri, Charles Jencks, Matteo Pasquinelli and Ricky Burdett.
Updated prototypes were exhibited in May 2011 at the AA alongside a series of talks hosted by Vittorio Pizzigoni, Silvia Davoli, Carlos Villanueva-Brandt, Dave Clements, Andrew Jaffe, Shin Egashira and Goswin Schwendinger.
Marking the conclusion of the programme the work was exhibited at the Milan Triennale in June 2011, where the B/E publication was launched.
