Rebuilding is never solely a question of shelter, but also inevitably a forum for dwelling on life. Starting from day one of the earthquake in L’Aquila, my scheme speculates on the potential for rejuvenation implemented by a strategic network of local occupants during the interim period before potential reconstruction. Such targeted occupants would include the 6000 people that turned up for the February 28th wheelbarrow protest that responded to lack of progress and dishonest building speculation.

More specifically I aim to respond to the inevitable erasure of public space through the introduction of a series of structures that interweave in their duration to form a programme that physically organises the ever-changing space of temporality. In this respect the permanence of the city is maintained by the action of its participants to re-establish the everyday by re-activating the town’s public territories.
